“I Got C9ED!”

khari_headshot“Being Miss Pennsylvania, I am invited to numerous charity events put on by organizations throughout the state. I was excited about the WCU Dress Drive, because this event was supporting young women by giving them the opportunity to attend special events such as their proms, homecomings and balls, and allowing them to feel beautiful in a beautiful dress donated by fellow young women… I met [C9ED Founder & President] Kim Bydlon at a prior Miss Pennsylvania event of mine, and was thrilled to work with her. Little did I know I met a young woman who was intelligent, pensive, articulate, ambitious, and had a desire to help those around her. I was shocked she wasn’t in the crown and sash I was in… I’ve met thousands of women, from college, sports and pageantry, and few seem to make a positive impact on those around them. Kim is one those women that makes such an impact. I am truly thankful I was able to partake in [the] event…” Khari Siegfried, Miss Pennsylvania United States 2014

“I participated in [the] event called, ‘Once Upon a Prom’ held in the student union at West Chester University. I was very impressed with [C9ED Founder & President] Kim, who organized this entire dress drive. She was very mature and professional. When I arrived at the event, the room was arranged with tables for the vendors and many young students were dressed in coordinating purple t-shirts ready to help. Each person seemed to know [his or her] role and responsibilities. The event ran smoothly and it was a success because of all the hard work Kim put forth before and during the event… I would gladly work with her again on future endeavors!” Sherry Nugent, Mary Kay Regional Sales Director

“Once Upon a Prom” was not only a unique project that raised awareness on campus, but in the community as well. It showed personal initiative as well as a long term commitment to the project. Your example has truly affected the community in a positive way. It is obvious that you put your heart into the planning and execution of this wonderful event. The memories that the girls will form wearing those dresses will stay with them forever. Please accept the enclosed certificate…as a token of our sincere appreciation for your commitment to inspiring social change in our community. Thank you for being a true role model for the WCU community and for making a positive impact in your community!” Jodi Roth-Sakes, Director of Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs at West Chester University
